Spanish Client Inspects Photovoltaic Recycling Equipment

As Europe faces a widespread wave of photovoltaic (PV) module retirements, a Spanish client has commissioned SUNY GROUP to supply a fully automated system for the recycling and processing of PV panels. The PV panel recycling line has now been successfully completed, and both parties have concluded the final pre-shipment acceptance testing within SUNY GROUP’s factory trial area.

The core advantages of SUNY GROUP’s PV panel recycling equipment are as follows:

1. All operational stages—including feeding, frame removal, junction box detachment, glass separation, crushing, and sorting—are fully automated and operate continuously. A single production line is capable of processing 30 to 50 standard PV panels per hour (equivalent to approximately 1.5 to 2.5 tons), representing a processing capacity 3 to 5 times greater than that of traditional manual dismantling methods.

2. The frame removal unit is driven by servo motors, enabling it to adaptively clamp and detach aluminum frames of varying widths and thicknesses. The junction box removal unit utilizes low-temperature hot air assistance to soften the adhesive layer bonding the junction box to the backsheet, after which a robotic arm precisely detaches the box. The glass separation stage employs a combined process of heated roller pressing and blade stripping to ensure the glass detaches in large fragments, thereby facilitating subsequent collection and reprocessing.

3. Once the mixture of solar cells and encapsulating materials enters the crushing and sorting system, it undergoes a multi-stage process involving two-stage crushing, vibrating screening, airflow separation, and electrostatic separation. This process effectively separates and recovers copper particles, aluminum particles, silicon powder, and EVA fragments.

4. Regarding environmental protection measures, the equipment is outfitted with a high-efficiency baghouse dust collector and an activated carbon adsorption unit to treat dust and trace amounts of pyrolysis gases generated during the crushing and sorting processes. Actual test data confirms that the emission indicators fully comply with relevant environmental protection standards.
