Based on the structural characteristics of lithium batteries, SUNYGROUP utilizes an environmentally friendly physical separation process to achieve efficient separation and recycling of waste lithium batteries. The lithium battery recycling line is suitable for the dismantling and recycling of soft-pack batteries, mobile phone batteries, casing batteries, and cylindrical batteries. The final products are graphite powder, lithium cobalt oxide, and copper.
A lithium battery mainly consists of a casing, positive electrode, negative electrode, electrolyte, and separator. The positive electrode is composed of lithium cobalt oxide powder coated on both sides of an aluminum foil current collector using PVDF as a binder; the negative electrode has a similar structure, consisting of carbon powder bonded to both sides of a copper foil current collector.
Currently, research on the resource utilization of waste lithium batteries mainly focuses on the recovery of valuable precious metals such as cobalt and lithium from the positive electrode, with little reported research on the separation and recycling of negative electrode materials. The copper in the negative electrode of waste lithium batteries (with a content of about 35%) is a widely used and important raw material, and the carbon powder attached to it can be used as an additive in plastics and rubber. Therefore, the effective separation of the constituent materials of waste lithium battery negative electrodes is crucial for maximizing the resource utilization of waste lithium batteries and mitigating their environmental impact.
