As the world appetite for electronics continues to increase, so does the need to handle these products properly. And yet, only around 20% of the estimated 50 million tonnes of annually produced e-scrap is being recycled. Time to zoom in on bold solutions and innovative technology.
Did you know that E-Waste represents just 2% of solid waste but 70% of the hazardous waste that ends up in landfill? That is exactly what next week’s E-Waste World Conference & Expo in Frankfurt, Germany, is all about. The two-day event start on 14 November and covers 3 distinct topics. These are; today’s main e-waste problems, e-mobility and batteries, as well as ecologically designed electronics.
These industry experts will discuss matters like how there could be 60 million tonnes of photovoltaic panels dumped in landfills by 2050. Yet 96% of the materials in a PV panel can be recycled, which is a potential material influx that could produce 2 billion new panels worth US$15 billion.
Besides offering a varied conference programme featuring a total of 100 speakers from all over the world, the event also includes an exhibition. Over 20 established companies – such as Kuusakoski Oy, Stena TechnoWorld, Urban Mining Solutions, Bano Recycling, and Ad Rem – will be showcasing their expertise.
Recycling International will be attending the event to explore the latest market developments. If you’re interested in going too, note that you may receive a special discount until this Friday. This means if you register today you can save EUR 300.
